Bucketta, a well-known name among seafood enthusiasts, recently expanded its reach with a new outlet at E!Hub Downtown East, Pasir Ris.
This addition joins their existing location at Golden Mile Tower, bringing their robust Thai-style seafood offerings closer to East side residents.
To find the restaurant, make your way outside E!Hub (find Luckin Coffee and turn right. It is facing the main road).
The concept of Bucketta centres around its seafood buckets.
These buckets come generously filled with a variety of seafood, ready to be doused in one of the signature sauces from Thai Cajun, Thai Egg Curry, Garlic Butter, Thai Black Pepper, to Spicy Mala.
It is worth noting that Chef Wisit, who was previously at the acclaimed Bangkok restaurant Le Du, now helms the kitchen.
Chef Wisit has also introduced an enticing array of Italian pasta dishes infused with Thai flavours.
In celebration of the new outlet’s opening, Bucketta is offering a Seafood Bucket Buffet Promotion, a tempting deal that allows diners to indulge in up to three buckets of freshly prepared seafood.
Priced at $39.90++ per person for the classic option and $59.90++ for the premium, the buffet promises a substantial feast.
Seafood Bucket Buffet Promotion ($39.90++ for classic bucket buffet, $59.90++ for premium bucket buffet. 100 minutes limit)
Starting with the classic bucket, the seafood selection includes tiger prawns, flower crabs, half shell scallops, black mussels, white clams.
This is also complemented with bratwurst, fried boiled eggs, broccoli, corn on the cob, and potatoes.
The premium bucket builds on the classic by adding crayfish and giant river prawns, making it a more decadent option.
Each ingredient was fresh and well-prepared, but my favourite was definitely the tiger prawns and scallops, which were juicy and sweet.
Diners have a choice between two sauces – Thai Cajun or Garlic Butter.
My preferred was the bolder and more intense Thai Cajun sauce, which added a spicy and tangy zest that complemented the delicate sweetness of the seafood.
That’s not all.
The classic buffet also includes free-flow sides like chicken cutlet, breaded fish fillet, baked corn, fried mantou, shoestring fries, mama noodles, and jasmine rice.
The fried mantou, especially, was addictive when dipped into the leftover sauce from the buckets.
For the premium buffet, there are additional choices of premium sides of Thai Pork Chop and Tom Yum Pork Ribs.
For an additional $10, diners can indulge in free-flow Hoegaarden beer or specialty drinks like Thai Milk Tea and Thai Green Tea.
At Bucketta, apart from their famed seafood buckets, the menu also features a selection of à la carte dishes.
Salmon & Prawn Marinate ($35)
Thick, succulent cuts of fresh salmon and plump tiger prawns, both marinated in a punchy mixture that includes chopped garlic and bird’s eye chilies, finished with Bucketta’s signature marinade.
Oh yes, this dish is also served with a side of crispy dried seaweed sheets, fragrant rice, and two Thai-style chili dipping sauces, so you can mix-and-match how you want to eat this.
Marinated Sashimi Crab Roe ($49)
Generous serving of raw crabs with the roe marinated in the same signature marinade, which promises an explosion of flavour.
The accompanying bowl of rice is the vehicle for enjoying the creamy, indulgent crab roe.
Tom Yum Mama Seafood Stew ($45)
This comforting and bold stew is brimming with a variety of seafood, ensuring that each spoonful is hearty and fulfilling.
For those who love Mama noodles, a generous portion is provided, making it a substantial meal that warms the palate and the stomach.
Green Curry Penne with Thai Herb Chicken ($18)
A fusion dish that marries the aromatic intensity of Thai-style green curry with the comforting familiarity of penne pasta.
Topped with tender chicken marinated in Thai herbs, and slices of seared eggplant.
Baked Thai Reang Leaves (Pak Liang) with Mozzarella Cheese ($10)
Reang leaves, native to Southern Thailand, were used as a base for this dish, and their earthy, slightly bitter flavour provided a counterbalance to the creamy, rich mozzarella cheese.
For that irresistible cheese pull (that one might not expect from a traditional Thai dish).
Bucketta Desserts
For dessert, the selection was as creative as the main courses, including Thai Tea Tiramisu, Panna Cotta with Red Ruby, Mochi Choco Banana, and Thai Kaya Crème Brûlée
Get the Panna Cotta with Red Ruby for its smooth texture with the ruby – crunchy water chestnuts coated in tapioca flour, offering a refreshing bite.
The atmosphere at the new Bucketta outlet is casual and friendly, ideal for family outings or a fun evening with friends.
