Kawasaki Ultra 310LX Review

What’s New in the 2022 Kawasaki Ultra 310LX?

What’s new in the 2022 Kawasaki Ultra 310LX? – this is a typical question of many jet ski enthusiasts, and the short answer is essentially everything!

To be a little more specific, the most important innovations on the new Ultra 310LX jet ski are as follows:

  • All-new hull and top deck
  • KSRD – Brake and reverse system
  • Adjustable step-up seat
  • 5-gallon dual glovebox
  • Rearview camera
  • 7” color TFT display
  • Longer rear deck with multi-mount bars
  • Headlights
  • Splash deflectors
  • Windshield
  • Dual cupholders
  • Jetsound Bluetooth sound system
  • Launch control
  • River Mark emblem

Let’s drill into the details and talk about the specifics of each one!

Kawasaki Ultra 310LX Hull and Top Deck

The 2022 Kawasaki Ultra 310LX is built on an entirely new deep-V hull designed for an ocean environment. In a nutshell, the key features of this new platform include:

  • Deep-V hull design
  • 5-degree deadrise
  • FMC fiberglass material
  • Reinforced bow
  • Dimensions (LxWxH): 140.9 x 47.0 x 48.8 in
  • Curb weight: 1089.3 pounds

Just like the hull, the top deck of the 310LX has also been redesigned from scratch.

Its aggressive design was inherited from the deservedly popular Kawasaki Z motorcycle series. You can find the respected River Mark logo on the hood, which appears on Kawasaki’s top-of-the-line products.

This new deck has not only been lowered by 1.28 inches but returns with several innovations, such as:

  • Wind-deflecting meter visor
  • Deeper and wider footwells
  • Extended rear platform (+ 7.9-inches)
  • Multi-Mount Bars
  • New front bumper with Kawasaki Splash Deflectors (KSD)
  • Raised rear bumper
  • Built-in cleats for safe docking
  • Larger mirrors
  • Dual cup holders
  • Foldable reboarding step
  • Adjustable tilt handlebars
  • 7” TFT color dashboard
  • River Mark emblem
  • Ebony/Gold color scheme

The key features of this new design are the Multi-Mount Bars, which can hold various accessories like rear racks and coolers. It’s safe to say that these bars do the same job as Sea-Doo’s LinQ connectors and the Rec-Deck system on the Yamaha FX WaveRunner family.

The top deck also houses the adjustable Kawasaki ERGO-FIT saddle, which comes with the following benefits:

  • Completely redesigned shape
  • Narrowed by 3.15 inches at the knee
  • Rated for 3 riders
  • Two-piece, step-up design with large bolsters
  • Made of special heat-resistant urethane foam
  • Covered with UV-resistant materials
  • Matching black and brown colors with white stitchwork
  • Advanced padding
  • Better vibration absorbing ability
  • Adjustable in 3 positions (it’s mounted on a sliding track)

Storage Compartments and Fuel Tank

Let’s move on to the capacities! The total storage capacity of the 2022 Ultra 310LX is 44.5 gallons, which splits into four different compartments:

  • Bow storage: 32.8 gallons
  • Dual glovebox: 10.5 gallons (with a 0.5-gallon watertight box)
  • Rear wet storage: 0.7 gallons

The innovative deck utilizes an industry-first “side dual glovebox,” which is actually two fairing compartments.

In other words, instead of a regular glovebox behind the handlebars, the ski has two large easy-access storage compartments mounted on each side of the top deck. These roomy compartments give you an amazing storage capacity of 10.5 gallons.

The right side houses a half-gallon watertight box with USB ports, which is a great place to store your wallet and phone.

You can store bigger gear like your life jackets or anchor in the roomy bow storage, while the tiny, 0.7-gallon rear “wet” storage is ideal for a tow rope or dock line.

Regarding fuel capacity, the ski has a 21.1-gallon gas tank, which is half gallon more than its predecessor.

Kawasaki Ultra 310LX Engine and Propulsion

Unlike the body and the features of the Ultra 310LX, its engine and propulsion have remained unchanged.

Consequently, under the hood, you can still find the proven 1,498cc four-cylinder Kawasaki jet ski engine.

The key features of this unit are as follows:

  • Displacement: 1,498cc
  • 4-stroke
  • Inline 4-cylinder
  • 12 valves with hydraulic lifters
  • DOHC – Dual Overhead Camshaft
  • Supercharged (Eaton Twin Vortices Series supercharger)
  • Intercooled
  • Performance: 310 HP
  • Open-loop water cooling system
  • Electronic fuel injection system

The engine delivers power to the 160mm axial-flow jet pump featuring stainless steel, 3-blade impeller, and providing 1,890 lbs. of thrust.

Although the intake grate and the sponsons also remain the same, the ride plate received some upgrades for better performance and less water spray.

Kawasaki KSRD – Brake and Reverse System

Let’s face it; it was time for Kawasaki to introduce its own brake and reverse system!

These innovative safety features have been around on jet skis since 2009 when Sea-Doo released its iBR system, followed by the Yamaha RiDE in 2015.

These systems can be controlled by a left-hand trigger while the new Kawasaki KSRD (Kawasaki Smart Reverse with Deceleration) can be activated by a thumb lever.

This lever is mounted on the right handlebar and features a similar design to the thumb-throttle on ATVs. Combined with the regular throttle trigger, this setup allows you to control the ski with only one hand.

Depressing this reverse thumb trigger overrides the throttle, which makes the system easy to use.

Behind the jet nozzle, the new Kawasaki features a similar reverse bucket as rival models. This bucket or “reverse gate” is intended to reverse the flow of the water jet, which causes the jet ski to decelerate and move backward.

Kawasaki Ultra 310LX Features

Besides the new brake and reverse system and the stylish new body, the 2022 Kawasaki Ultra 310LX comes with a series of new innovative features, including:

  • Rearview camera
  • 7” color TFT screen
  • LED running lights in the front bumper
  • Mode button (Full/Middle/SLO)
  • Launch Control (KLCM) with auto-adjust trim
  • Learning key for novice riders
  • Cruise control with No-Wake mode
  • Multi-Mount System for GPS, camera, Fishfinder, etc.
  • Jetsound 4S Bluetooth audio system with 4 speakers

One of the most advanced features of the 2022 Kawasaki Ultra 310LX is its rearview camera, which comes in handy while doing tow sports. The ski is also equipped with a large 7-inch Digital TFT Display. This screen provides you with a lot of valuable information, including:

  • GPS-based speedometer

  • battery voltage
  • Ride mode
  • Compass
  • Clock
  • Boost pressure
  • Ride mode
  • Trim settings
